Before you know it, it’ll be November which signals the end of our Chapter events for 2016.
Saturday, November 5 will be our Annual Membership Meeting. This is usually a weekend event; however, with the added ACBS International Pre-Events, Meetings, and Boat Show added to the calendar, it just made sense to make the Annual Membership Meeting a one day event. This event is always a fun time with old friends and a chance to make new ones. We will be presenting our new slate of Officers and Directors for your vote and bid farewell to President Barbara and offer a warm welcome to new President Debra Dobbins.
The day starts out in Oakland with a lunch cruise on the USS Potomac, FDRs “Floating White House”. The 165 foot vessel was commissioned in 1934 as the USCG Cutter Electra. In 1936 it was renamed the USS Potomac and served as Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Presidential Yacht until his death in 1945. It was renovated and opened to the public in 1995. Join us on this National Historic Landmark yacht for a lovely luncheon cruise. After the cruise, make your way to Lafayette to the Lafayette Park Hotel which is the site of our cocktail party and dinner meeting. If you don’t live nearby, you’ll want to book a room at the Lafayette Park Hotel and now is the time to do that. We’ve made arrangements for special pricing and one night bookings. Call 925 263-1725 to make your reservation. Reference “ACBS November Meeting” for preferred pricing.
More information about times and pricing for the Potomac Cruise and the dinner will be coming later. We hope you will join us!
