It’s that time again! Wood & Glory XXI is scheduled for June 6th thru 9th, but if you want to add days to your visit to Clear Lake, consider coming June 1st and 2nd for a vintage race boat event that will prime your boating juices! Start your engines….here’s this years plans. Be sure to book accommodations early!
Vintage Race Boat Test & Tune: The California Speedboat Association is holding a “Test & Tune” for vintage race boats on June 1st & 2nd at the Buckingham Homes Association clubhouse and beach. If you are at Clear Lake early this year, this is a “Must See” event. There is no cost to come and watch. For more information, or if you wish to participate, contact ACBS member John Lawrence at (925) 787-2000. The event will include boats like Pacific-One-Design, Cracker-Box, Step-Hydros, Sponson-Hydros, and more. While this is not a Wood & Glory/ACBS activity, many of our members belong both to ACBS and CSA.
Thursday Evening, June 6, Welcoming Reception – Allen & Donna Thomas are once again opening their Corinthian Bay home for a Welcoming Reception for our Wood & Glory participants. For those who have made this in the past, we’re sure you will attend again and for those who have not made it to Allen and Donna’s before, you should.
Friday, June 7, is Woodie Whoopie Time at John & Mary Lahti’s great lakefront home on the Buckingham Peninsula. This is a “pot luck” where participants bring whatever they wish to grill on the barbecue and a dish to share. Our Sea Scouts are on hand to help with parking cars & mooring boats.
Saturday, June 8, starts early with a Skippers Meeting followed by the cruise through Soda Bay, Horseshoe Bend, past Shag Rock and past Clear Lake State Park to Clear Lake Vista Marina Resort where boats enter their assigned slips for the Wood & Glory Boat Show. There will be plenty of seating in the shade to enjoy lunch and people. For those who are a little antsy, it’s a short walk over to the Casino.
Saturday Evening, June 8 is the Awards Prime Rib Dinner at Bob & Madi Mount’s Boatique Winery. We will be seated amongst their beautiful award-winning collection of antique & classic mahogany boats. And, let’s not forget that their award-winning wines will be available too.
Sunday, June 9, 2019 we’ll cruise to and picnic at Bell Haven Resort in Soda Bay. As guests of the Dohring family, we will picnic at their beautifully restored resort. There’s fishing, bocce ball, billiards, and just lounging around on their classic resort property. This is a bring your own lunch and beverage.

Jim & Gail suggest dining at the classic Blue Wing Saloon (Upper Lake) or the new Vista Café (Soda Bay), visiting equestrian centers and museums, etc. when you are not on the water.

Their website presents a wonderful review of their 50 Lake County winery members.
