In past years a more structured winery tour was organized for ACBS members attending our event. As popular as that was, there will not be an “official” winery tour this year in favor of smaller groups touring to their time and place needs. Wood & Glory “open time” is your time to relax without a schedule! We encourage you to visit and support the local wineries in the area. There are many to choose from, yet here are a few possibilities for three relaxing itineraries, which we always enjoy with our friends.
Upper Lake: Drive 20 min. North on 29 to Upper Lake to the Lake County Wine Studio where you will meet delightful Susan. She represents many local wineries and has extensive knowledge to share. The historicTallman Hotel is just across the street for lodging and the Blue Wing Saloon is a great lunch spot. “Down Town” Upper Lake is worth a look. Driving back stop in Lakeport at the Don Angel tasting room on Main St. Here you can check out a few local shops.
Kelseyville Area: In Kelseyville you will find several favorites all in close proximity. Steel Wines, Mt Konocti Winery, Rosa Del d’Oro, Fore Family Vinyards, Wildhurst, and Chacewater Winery are all good choices. If you like olive oil Rosa d’Oro and Chacewater both have tasting. The Saw Shop is a good lunch stop and Studabaker’s Deli makes great sandwiches to go or eat there. Steele Winery has tables in the shade for a picnic spot.
Red Hills Region: Heading ten minutes south on 29 out of Kelseyville in the Red Hills region you will find Boatique Winery with picnic tables, bocce, and classic boats! (Ask for your W&G pricing on wine purchases). Laujor Estate is close by with wonderful views and Gregory Graham just off 29 on Pt. Lake View Rd. is a must stop. Just across the road is Shannon Ridge at Vigilance.
For those of you who may wish to visit wineries before picking up your goodie bags with the included map, go to www.lakecountywineries.org for info and a viewable map that can be downloaded to your phone. For additional information contact Gene & Sue Dangel at 925 788 8790 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Enjoy, & see you soon!
2017 events are starting! If you don’t have an ACBS NC / LT nametag and would like to have one, Barbara Foster is ordering them. The cost is $10. All you need to do is email Barbara with the correct spelling of your name and tell her whether you want a “magnet back” or “clip back”. If you are a past President, let her know if you want that designation on your nametag. Email her at email@example.com.
If you’re going to be at the Bass Lake Rendezvous or Wood & Glory XIX, Barbara will be at both events and can take your order then!
JOIN THE PARTY!
This year Wood & Glory is celebrating Carl Braito as our Guest Of Honor on his 100th birthday! For the past 19 years Carl and his Braito family have sponsored and supported your Wood & Glory Event. You’re invited to cheer on the man and his story!
The Northern CA/Lake Tahoe and Southern California ACBS Chapters want to welcome you to join us at beautiful Bass Lake for the 27th Annual Bass Lake Antique and Classic Wooden Boat Show and Rendezvous. This truly wonderful event has created many special memories throughout the years and is guaranteed to be a very FUN and RELAXING weekend for all. The first in-the-water boat show for 2017 is on May 19th through May 21st, but if you can arrive a couple days early to Bass Lake, plan a side trip to enjoy the beautiful and magical views of Yosemite National Park only 17 miles away. With all the rain and snow that we have been receiving this season, the waterfalls will be amazing to see. What a treat it will be to have Bass Lake full again this year after the harsh drought that we all have had to deal with the last few years.
