WOOD & GLORY XIX

JUNE 23RD SUMMARY UPDATE

IT HAPPENED.  THANK YOU ALL FOR JOINING IN AGAIN.

WE WELCOMED OVER 52 CLASSIC BOATS, 135 “CLASSIC” MEMBERS, 64 ENTHUSED GUESTS INCLUDING 37 NEW PARTICIPANTS. WE ENJOYED OUR BOATS, THE THOMAS’ RECEPTION, THE LAHTI WHOOPIE, A CASINO MARINA SHOW & LUNCHEON, AND A LIVELY AWARDS CELEBRATION AT THE BOATIQUE WINERY TOASTING OUR W&G XIX HONOREE –

CARL BRAITO’S 100TH BIRTHDAY!

Most likely …the best summary we can present is the colorful event pictures donated to you by Bill Groody and Joel Castro.  View the complete video by clicking this link http://bit.ly/2tbxi6w.  You may also select images on our Chapter’s web site in Galleries, above.  The images are yours to download and print to your needs!  It’s a Wood & Glory value-added benefit.

There is no doubt…this 19th year Wood & Glory event was successful again because a lot of our sponsors and volunteer members gave back more than they took.  We thank our fellow member families, the Thomas, Lahti and Mount, for opening their waterfront homes and Boatique Winery for us to enjoy – and did we enjoy the evenings!  Likewise our commercial sponsors – including Braito Marina, Maherajah Water Skies, Konocti Vista Casino & Marina along with Clear Lake Vista Resort, among other sponsors, all contributed to your smile moments and enabled Wood & Glory to be a value packed, fun event again.

Reach out and also thank your fellow member W&G volunteers who made it happen too.  They included members Jane Bane, Debbie & Joel Castro, Sue & Gene Dangel, Kelly Davis, Bill Groody, Barbara & Dan Foster, Virginia & Mike Gompertz, Kathy Gregory, Mary & John Lahti, John Lawrence, Sylvia & Don Leutz, Ronda Little, Jo Anne & Ted Lyman, Dave Lyon, Judy & Jack McManus, Susan & Wayne Mooers, Madi & Robert Mount, Steve Patmont, Bob Penny and his Sea Scouts, Barbara & Doug Reed, Gail & Jim Robello, and Donna & Allen Thomas.

And the winners are:  Dave Lyon’s boat judging team recognized and awarded Best Century to Bob & Carol Coates’ Fireball, a 1957 16’ Century Resorter; Best Chris Craft to Rick & Annie Hill’s Tumblehome, a 1941 17’Chris Craft Deluxe; Best of Show to Gordon Kirkland’s Ravishing Red, a 1960 20’ Strebow; and People’s Choice to Bob and Madi Mount’s Curvaceous, a 1938 24’ Greavette, Streamliner.  Registrar Susan Mooers also recognizes the Rich Coey family from Modesto with bringing 8 family members to Wood & Glory – keeping it by design, a family affair!

And the other winners are:  The Lake County area beneficiaries – Sea Scout Ship 711, People Services, Operation Tango Mike, and your ACBS Chapter 501c3 Endowment.  At this time, Jim reports some $9,000 will be shared between these groups. These funds were received from your generous participation in the Sea Scout Raffle, Silent Auction, and Live Auction items (of which the Braito Hatteras Cruise fetched $2,200 and the Maher custom Ski / Skateboard auctioned off at $2000.    Once again, thank you all.

Next year is Wood & Glory’s 20th year and it is timely I turn the helm over to your 1999 Wood & Glory co-founder Jim (and Gail) Robello as Event Chairman, along with Barbara (and Dan) Foster as Vice Chairman.
