We are now 3 weeks out from the start of our Chapter’s Wood & Glory XVIII – a gathering of classic boats and great friends.  All indications at this time point to the fact we will again have some 50 special boats along with 200 members and guests enjoying a variety of Wood & Glory’s relaxing boating, social and dining opportunities.  At this time, we also have 20 new people signed up – smile, hold out your hand and welcome them!

Our ACBS Associate Membership with The Lake County Winery Association www.lakecountywineries.org offers you some beautiful places and countryside to visit, and purchasing incentives when you introduce yourself as part of Wood & Glory.  Click here for the Lake County Winery Assn Welcome letter and Map.

The Mounts’ Boatique Winery and their boats are a very important part of this casual, unstructured tour.  Consistent with our other ACBS Chapter events, W&G continues to transition also into a BYOB “no host” event policy.

Donna Thomas is cooking up a Mexican themed dinner for us on Thursday night.  She needs to know how many beans!

Send her a RSVP signal – djthomas3394@gmail.com if you have not already registered.  We have 40 signed in at this time.

Husband Allen Thomas is heading up our live Auction.  He’s got good stuff!  Also new to W&G this year is the Sea Scout  “trading dock” table, which will be managed by, and all sale proceeds going to, the Konocti Sea Scout Ship 711.  Got boat stuff??  Tag it with your name, a fair price, put it on the Sea Scout Trading Dock Table as a donation.  Also accepted is a printed / picture offering of what you have  – which will be presented on the table in a binder format.  E-mail us back a list of what you want to donate and offer if you don’t bring your items with you. –  jimrobello@gmail.com

John Lawrence has invited 21 race boats to be on hand, including a variety of “Hydro” “Crackerboxes” and production “racing runabouts.” The Mount’s 32’ Gentleman Racer MADELEINE is our poster child.  The Foster’s 1922 MAYBE NOT II will be getting a Clear Lake re-christening party too during the Friday evening Lahti Whoopie.   And, talking about race boats, celebrity record holder and go fast personality Howard Arneson will be with us and is our W&G XVIII Honoree.  Visit with and recognize Howard during the Boatique Winery Dinner Saturday evening.  www.howardarneson.com.

Big Shots: Groody River Multi Media,  (https://vimeo.com/129513210) will be with us and on the water again and pointing their cameras at you.  Donation opportunity:  $50 to your W&G specified beneficiary.  Bill will professionally document you and your boat underway in both color still shots and video of your boat up close and personal.   By appointment only; limited to 5 W&G participants.   Reserve your photo time:  waynemooers@gmail.com

W&G Contacts, Questions:  Chairman, waynemooers@gmail.com, and co-chairman jimrobello@gmail.com

And Remember to thank:  Members Donna & Allen Thomas, The John Lahti Family, Robert and Madi Mount, The Braito Family, Bob Maher, Boatique Winery and the other Lake County Winery Association members who have opened their homes and facilities to us, and both the City and The County of Lake, along with other area civic and commercial groups who are underwriting and supporting your Wood & Glory Event.
